The desktop app and moraPOS on Android are both designed to work without internet. The web POS needs a connection, because a browser tab is not a place to keep your shop's takings.
How sync works
- Initial sync: on first login, the app downloads all products, inventory, customers, and coupons for your branch.
- Orders created offline are stored locally as pending. The indicator in the header shows how many orders are waiting to sync.
- Auto-sync: every 30 seconds the app checks connectivity and, when online, pushes pending orders and pulls updates.
- Manual sync: go to Settings → Sync Now to force a sync.
Connectivity indicator
- Online: syncing normally.
- Offline: orders are saved locally.
Conflict resolution
If a product was updated on the server while you were offline, the server version wins. Offline orders are always accepted, so you never lose a sale.
Cancellations reach the till
If an order is cancelled or refunded in the admin after the till that made it has gone offline, the till learns about it on its next sync and its own takings figure corrects itself. A till's revenue total matches the admin's rather than drifting away from it over a shift.
What does not work offline
A few things need the server and are unavailable until the till reconnects:
- Coupon and referral codes, because a code has to be checked before it is honoured.
- Wallet payments, because a balance held offline could be spent twice.
Keep the device clock right
A till with a badly wrong clock will refuse to sell rather than stamp your sales history with the wrong date. If that happens, fix the device's date and time and it resumes.
